The West Coast Corridor Coalition (WCCC),
with strong impetus from the Pacific Coast
Collaborative, and strong sponsorship
support from Idaho National Laboratories
and Ford, organized this well attended two-day conference
to support, enhance
and encourage public-private cooperation
and collaboration in the on-going creation
of a “clean, green and smart” west coast
transporation corridor and the “I-5 Green
Highway”.
Interested and involved attendees engaged with experts ranging from national, state and regional public officials, to CEOs of technology and energy companies and public interest activists, as they reviewed the successes, breakthroughs, challenges and requirements at the core of the attempt to move “beyond oil”.
There were many highlights, with over 50
speakers presenting new and highly relevant
insights and information, and manufacturers
showcasing their newest electric, hybrid, and
alternative fuel vehicles.
Throughout the conference there were
several recurrent themes, and in conclusion,
consensus on five overarching priciples:
Need for a Sustainable Foundation
Need for Public-Private Collaboration
Need to Achieve a Critical Mass Volume
Need for Incentives and Standards
Need for a Convener and Coordinator
A lot of valuable information was presented and summarized and is provided here.
